On this special day, February 11, we joyfully celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes—a story of faith, humility, and divine wonder!
Just over three years after Pope Pius IX proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, 1854, in Ineffabilis Deus, a humble young girl named Bernadette Soubirous knelt by a rocky grotto in Lourdes, France. On February 11, 1858, a radiant lady appeared to her, sparking a series of breathtaking visions.
On March 25, the lady revealed her identity with words that echoed heaven’s promise: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Through this simple girl, Mary ignited—and still ignites—the faith of millions worldwide. Pilgrims poured in from France and beyond, drawn to the grotto’s healing springs.
In 1862, Church authorities confirmed the apparitions’ authenticity, blessing the cult of Our Lady of Lourdes. By 1907, her feast became a global celebration of hope and grace!
Let’s honor Our Lady today—may her message renew our hearts.
